About This Place

Cafe Bakery Restaurant at 1365 Noriega St in San Francisco offers a distinctive blend of classic Chinese flavors, comforting cafe fare, and a touch of bakery charm that caters to those craving both familiarity and indulgence. Nestled in the heart of the Inner Sunset, this unpretentious eatery invites diners into a warm, bustling atmosphere that perfectly suits its generous, hearty dishes and timeless Hong Kong-style café culture.

As you step inside, you’re embraced by the aromas of sizzling black pepper sauce and fragrant garlic—the culinary backbone of several standout dishes like the iconic Pork Chop with Black Pepper Sauce and Garlic Pork Chops. The menu is a treasure trove of both traditional and inventive selections, from Roast Pork that boasts a perfectly crisped exterior, to the creamy and nostalgic Clam Chowder served alongside classic Fish and Chips.

One can’t help but be captivated by the rich, smoky notes of the Daily Special Chicken Leg, complemented by the velvety texture of Curry Beef, or the comforting warmth of the Oxtail Stew, praised by guests like Sisi Chen who raves about its tender, hearty flavor. Seafood lovers will delight in options like Garlic Prawns and Prawns with Black Bean Sauce, each dish perfectly balancing bold seasonings with fresh, succulent ingredients.

Particularly notable is the bakery’s dedication to portion size and authentic HK-style beverages. Mary Miller captures this beautifully in her review, admiring the "big portions, perfect for sharing or saving for later," and the ice-cold Hong Kong-style Lemon Tea provides a bright, refreshing counterpoint to the savory dishes. The nostalgic touch of serving jello with set meal combos echoes the home-style comfort that Cafe Bakery Restaurant consistently delivers.

Regulars and first-timers alike appreciate the no-frills yet welcoming environment. From Vanessa Cheung’s fond recounting of a packed Saturday night experience featuring unforgettable Portuguese-style baked chicken, to Steven Finkelstein’s discovery of stand-out dishes such as rib eye steaks and curry pasta specials, it’s clear that every visit promises something memorable.

The restaurant’s fusion of affordable, homestyle cooking and generous portions makes it the perfect spot for a casual night out or a comforting lunch retreat. Despite some recent challenges around pricing that Daniel notes, the heart of this Hong Kong café remains steady—offering reliably delicious meals that honor tradition and invite you to savor each bite.

Whether it’s the crispy, tender chicken thighs, the aromatic House Special XO Fried Rice, or the indulgent Black Pepper Sauce Pork Chops with Spaghetti, Cafe Bakery Restaurant serves up more than just food—it offers an experience that warms the soul and satisfies with authenticity.

Calling ahead at +1 415-661-6116 is recommended, but walk-ins will find a cozy, lively spot where the spirit of Hong Kong café dining lives on, right in San Francisco’s vibrant culinary scene.

I've been coming many times, and I love that they still serve jello with set meal combos. I enjoy their chicken steak with cream corn sauce and an ice-cold HK-style lemon tea. Highly recommend the big portions, perfect for sharing or saving for later (to-go containers are $0.25). They accept cash or card!

I only discovered this restaurant because my mom brought a to-go order home. It was a Baked Chicken with Portuguese Sauce that left such an impression that I had to bookmark and visit in person. We managed to stop in on a Saturday night, just before closing time at 8:00PM. The place was packed but we were able to get seated with 30 minutes to spare. It's a no frills restaurant with traditional Hong Kong cafe options. Most meals come with soup, veggies, rice, AND dessert! Each dish is not 10/10 crazy good but it will surely leave you satisfied.

#2 A Hong Kong café I’ve loved for a long time! Since the pandemic, many things have changed. Some businesses have thrived, while others that used to do well have started struggling. This place is one of the latter. In recent years, everything has become much more expensive, leading to significant changes in restaurant prices as well. This café is no exception. Once a spot where people would line up, it’s hard to find those scenes anymore. That said, this place is still delicious, still affordable, and still serves generous portions! They have daily specials, and they even serve jello for dessert! I love their pasta, pork chops, and milk tea—it’s all so good! #1 One place you might want to consider for a Hong Kong-style lunch cafe!! It offers generous portions and decent flavors for the price. Enjoy your meal in Hong Kong! Baked ham pasta with white sauce.

We got here around 1pm and it was quite busy. We got a seat right away. We got the Sat special salt baked chicken thighs and a regular menu oxtail stew. We both opted for just more veggies and trust us, the amount of meat for both dishes will fill you up alone. Oxtail stew was absolutely delicious. I will come back here just for that dish. The chicken thighs were so tender and the skin was crispy. The milk tea was bomb and it is bottomless with any special order. We are definitely coming back for more.

Had a great dinner, our first time. Recommended by a friend who goes regularly. A very different Chinese restaurant, they have great rib eye steaks, their daily specials are a great value! Tuesday's curry pasta dish was delicious. We will definitely be back and the lamb is next on the list to try.

We come here on Sundays to enjoy the special roast pork. It's really delicious. I grew up coming here, and now that I live away from the city, I always stop by when I'm back. The pork is slightly salty but goes well with rice. The portions are large, so we usually share. The special meal includes tomato soup and a drink of your choice. It's definitely worth trying.
